Insulated electric wire and its manufacture

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small diameter insulated electric wire with an insulation covering having a low permittivity by performing a preheating to expand microcapsules in the raw material compound of insulation material, and conducting a perfect polymerization of the raw material of ultraviolet hardening resin by means of irradiation with ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: From a supply roll 12 a conductor wire 11a is fed to a coating die 14 at the specified speed. The raw material of an ultraviolet hardening resin and the raw material compound of insulating material in the form of thermally expanding microcapsules are supplied from a supply tank 13 and attached to the periphery of the conductor 11a in a certain constant thickness, and the resultant is fed to the first ultraviolet irradiation device 15 where the outside surface is irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The polymerizing reaction at this time remains in preliminary process in which the raw material compound will have fluidity, and in a heating furnace 16 as the next process, the material is heated at a temp. to cause expansion of the microcapsules. The material is perfectly polymerized by an ultraviolet irradiation device 17, forwarded by a drive device 18, and taken up by a winder 19 for storage. Thus an insulated electric wire having small diameter can be fabricated, which has a high speed transmitting property at a high level.
